AKISQNUK FIRST NATION MULTIPURPOSE BUILDING
The Akisqnuk First Nation Multipurpose Building is located near Windermere in the Interior of British Columbia. Akisqnuk First Nation expressed the need for more administration and community health program spaces to address the growing needs of the community. After community consultation, the proposed Multipurpose Building expands and renovates an existing administration building to accommodate new spaces, in addition to the construction a new band hall space and health centre.
The proposed Multipurpose Building incorporates wood and stone as features of the Akisqnuk heritage, as these materials stand prominent at the new band hall space that will host major community events and large meetings. The design also maximizes connections to the outdoors and daylighting to promote better work and social environments.
